So you want to know a little more about me? That’s nice of you. Thank you.
There are a lot of things I could be doing right now, but instead, I’m sitting down at my desk and writing this. That should tell you a lot about my dedication to my craft. I probably spend as much time here as I do in my bed. And I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world.
As you can see, my desk is nothing fancy. I’m quite a simple woman, actually. I do my best to live with a conscious, clear purpose. And I like writing that’s just as simple, clear and purposeful as my life.
I live in a little part of Canada called Victoria. It’s a beautiful place, with lots of flowers and trees. The air is clean and the ocean is never far away. It gives me a lot of energy. Before I settled here, I lived all over the country: Montréal, Edmonton and Vancouver.
I first became a freelance writer out of necessity: I needed extra money during my graduate studies, and a web marketing firm hired me to ghostwrite articles for their clients. For 2 years, I wrote between 20 and 60 articles a month (I can produce!) and I learned everything there was to know about content SEO.
After a while, I started to branch out. I began grading assignments for an online writing course given by a respected Canadian university after I graduated from my master’s. I started with 1 section; I now grade 3 or 4 each semester. It keeps me on my toes, lets me help students with their writing, and still teaches me new writing tricks every year.
I also edit academic papers for students, help small and medium businesses with web copy and blogging, and I’ve recently begun working in the branding field. I’ve also dabbled in social media management.
But nobody is all about money. When I’m not writing, I knit and crochet (I’m bilingual AND bicraftual!), I read ferociously (and I blog about books a lot), and I write novels and short stories (no, nothing good enough to show you yet).
So, thank you again for dropping by my writer’s site. I can’t wait to share your joy with the world!
